Have you ever visited Prague? If your answer is yes, you must know this typical sweet cake called Trdelnik. Originally from Hungary, Trdelnik even becomes extremely popular in Prague. Tridelnik is made from the rolled dough that wrapped around the stick and grilled. It is served with sugar, ice cream, chocolate, oreo, etc. at different prices.

If you are in Prague, you will see this cake literally everywhere! 99% of the consumer is a tourist who came across the old city, they really get attracted by the unique cake with its beautiful ice cream and chocolate. Even the price is quite expensive, they want to buy it just because of its Instagramable. After that? Most of them just throw it to the trash, unfortunately.

Before coming to Prague, I’ve watched the youtube videos of Honest Guide the famous YouTuber from Prague who loves to create youtube about the real information of Prague. I watched all of their videos and trust me, the videos are really useful if you are about to visit Prague. From giving tips where to visit anti-mainstream places in Prague, Trusted Moneychanger (It's extremely important!) and until the real fact about Tridelnik!

The fact is, Tridelnik is only famous by the tourist; not local. As Escape with Billy only shows the travel style like local, their videos are really into me! So, when I was visiting Prague, I have made a list of the places I should visit include a local restaurant with affordable prices yet delicious traditional foods. And surely, since I have watched the videos about Tridelnik, I have warned my self not to try that sweet.

But at the fact, when I was in Prague I was so curious! Because it's literally E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E!!

After getting Tridelnik with a special variant, they went outside and try to find the view to take a picture then. And after taking some beautiful pictures from Instagram, they just try some of the cake without finishing it. Where it goes? Trash.

While the taste is so ordinary, the price is extraordinary. I became so curious about Tridelnik but still kept my prestige to buy that Instagramable cake. I came into the shops and took a picture only. Until in my 3rd day which is my last day in Prague before I continue to Krakow in the morning, I still have some amount of Czech crowns. Since I felt a bit hungry, then I decided to buy Tridelnik. OMG, I actually felt ashamed. But, I was really curious at the same time! Hahahaha…

And how was it? I bought the original one with Nutella only, the cheapest one! I forgot the price, but probably 50–75 CZK. Hahaha... Like the normal tourist, I then tried to take a picture of Tridelnik with the best view of Prague. I tasted Tridelnik, the taste is so basic cake with sugar. Not really special, and since its rolled dough it can be a bit messy while eating (that’s why people just throw it to trash!) But I finished it all without any curiosity! Hahaha... I can sleep then 🙂

So, is Tridelnik worthy or not? I don’t think so. It’s only good for the picture, not for the taste. Because the taste is so basic but the price expensive (for just a wrapped dough). If you are visiting Prague, instead of eating Tridelnik there are so many traditional foods you should try at affordable prices; Goulash, Svickova, etc.
